\u201cThis is a new challenge I accepted with great enthusiasm. When Massimo Perotti asked me to design a fast 40-meter boat for him \u2014 as well as the range of semi-displacement yachts \u2014 I think he gone into the matter in great detail. I think he felt sure that I would be able to create the lines that he was looking for. For my part, I am pleased that he has had faith in me, my work, and my skills.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Sanlorenzo 40 Alloy project is based on the idea of \u201cfloating architecture\u201d as far the interiors are concerned, and on the contact with the sea and the value of the emotions that a boat of this type can arouse, and its versatility with regard to some of the details.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Since this is a planing yacht, the external lines express dynamism, with the right mixture of the concept of aggressiveness, evoking speed, and the sense of enveloping softness promising the on-board comfort of a large yacht.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Inside the boat we have created backlit \u201cfloating architecture\u201d without visible lights: the furniture seems to float freely in space thanks to the lighting from behind.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Another special function of the furnishings is that assigned to the drapes: we have created a system of full-length sliding drapes, very similar to those used in our homes. They are intended to ensure privacy on board, as, for example, in the corridor giving access to the gym, where they allow the owner\u2019s studio to be concealed. The stereo equipment is completely hidden: regarding these details, the yard has done an excellent job by finding state-of-the-art technical solutions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
When I designed this boat, \u201cwellness\u201d was all the rage. From my point of view, wellness does not simply mean space on board devoted to a sauna, gym, massage room, and so on. The concept has a broader meaning because, in actual fact, it is the possession of a boat like this that allows it to be fully expressed by creating it to perfection. On a large yacht, wellness means living life to the full, and this ought to be the main aim of those spending their time on board.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
This was the concept that inspired me for the terraces with which, by lowering the bulwarks, I expanded the space of the owner\u2019s suite, thus re-establishing the contact with the sea from inside the boat. The objective is reached, above all, because the surface gained is at the same level as the suite, so it\u2019s possible look out from the bed towards the sea.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The dominant material is leather, which is used for the staircase, and the return to black lacquer for the furniture, a finish that lends an air of contemporary rigor to all the interiors.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In the open-air spaces, on both the main deck and the fly bridge, we have created large areas that can be used in a very flexible manner. The settees and tables can be converted to allow them to be used either when sitting or lying down, in the sun or in the shade \u2014 everything is possible.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
While I have stressed my relationship with the yard here, I would like to add that one of my greatest satisfactions was the owner\u2019s reaction when he saw the finished boat: the result corresponded perfectly to the rendering.
